Founding story

Co-founders Anthony Alvernaz and Parker Gilbert are on a mission to simplify and accelerate accounting processes. Armed with years of experience managing finance and accounting teams, the pair set out to remove the complexity from accounting, so that businesses can work closer, faster, and smarter.

The product of their joint endeavor, The Numeric platform gives accounting teams a centralized view of their month-end close and enhances workflows. Designed for growing companies of all sizes, Numeric enables teams to work together within a single, synchronized system. By bringing together and ordering all their financial information, Numeric gives businesses the confidence to make better decisions and move faster.

The challenge

Numeric engaged Zypsy to partner with them in bringing their brand and product to life. We were to help shape their brand strategy: defining their mission, vision, and positioning. We were challenged to realize their brand story and personality through design, while simultaneously expressing the multifaceted and multi-featured nature of their platform. In terms of product design, we were tasked with rebuilding the platform and delivering UX and UI that would help transform the way accounting is done.

The solution

We created a website that expresses the immense utility and value of Numeric. Visitors are taken on a journey through each of Numeric’s products and are shown, not simply told of, their benefits. Numeric’s mission to liberate businesses from accounting complexity and enable them to gain trust in their financials is reflected in every asset and line of copy. For the product, our team delivered a UI and UX that is helping realize Numeric’s ambition of dispensing with the complexity of standard accounting practices.

Numerical

Numeric is a financial product, and our design team believed the logo needed to be a part of that world. Their design process began with that thought and ended with the creation of a logo that operates as a unique, repeatable, and adaptable design system. Drawing inspiration from Numeric’s name, the team landed on the idea of using digital numerals as the foundation of the design. Highly adaptable, the logo is used as a brand device, recurring throughout the website, product, and other marketing collateral.

Positioning

Liberation

Zypsy collaborated closely with Numeric to define and develop their positioning. Following a thorough exploration of Numeric’s product, brand purpose, and competition, we discovered the key elements that make Numeric different from all that has gone before. Numeric is the antithesis of standard, laborious, and overly complex accounting practices. Numeric is a liberator — the simplest, fastest, and most intuitive way to complete accounting-based tasks. More collaborative. More repeatable. More consistent. Numeric is where accounting teams work together, and financial data comes together to find order.

Along with the mission and vision statements we honed together with the Numeric team, the positioning statement acts as the foundation for all brand activity. Core messaging relating to Numeric’s role as a liberator was crafted by drawing from the positioning statement.

Visual identity

Value made visible

In crafting the visual design for the Numeric website, our design team created iconography adapted from the logo. These designs are subtly integrated into the website pages to recall the logo and brand in visitors' minds. Numeric is a deep product with a vast array of functions and features. The team categorized Numeric's various value props into individual sections to bring them all to life. Within every section, code snippets are used to tell the story of each function and feature.

Product

Elevating experiences

Our product design team began their journey by conducting extensive research into the Numeric platform and user behavior to locate and heal pain points. Throughout development, the team met and overcame a range of complex challenges. User experiences and the presentation of information have been improved across the platform, particularly in key areas, such as Checklists, Reconciliation, and Flux Analysis. Additionally, the product team reimagined and redesigned the Overview Page, ensuring that it contains all the critical information teams need, and that they can gain what they need at a glance. To ensure and safeguard consistency across the entire platform, our team meticulously crafted a fully operational design system.

By working in close partnership with Numeric, our product team delivered a modern and clean interface, simplified user flows, and a consistent and high-quality experience across the entire platform.

Born from Numeric’s positioning, messaging was crafted to vividly and passionately express how Numeric liberates users from the complexity of standard accounting methods. Working closely with the Numeric team, we developed an empowering and engaging tone of voice that matches the energy and enabling nature of the brand and product. Every line of copy echoes their mission of simplifying and enhancing accounting tasks.
